The chances of Leonel Moreira having minutes in Russia are minimal as the he is currently the third option Costa Rica have in goal, behind Keylor Navas and Patrick Pemberton. But it is Moreira who will arrive in Russia as the goalkeeper with the lowest goals conceded average of the World Cup!

When comparing the goalkeepers who have been selected for the World Cup and have made a minimum of 40 appearances over the course of last season, Moreira is placed in the top with an average goal conceding rate of 0.7 goals per game.

The Herediano goal-keeper played 51 games and only conceded 36 goals last season, according to figures from Transfer Market.

The likes of David de Gea (0.8) and Ederson (0.9) have a higher goal conceding rate than the 28-year-old while Los Ticos number 1 Keylor Navas, who won the UCL with Real Madrid last season, ranks 14th in the list with a goal conceding rate of 1.1 goals per game.
