Club History

The 2014 World Cup in Brazil was one of the worst Spanish national team performances in some time. The team didn’t qualify for the knockout stages and it looked like Spain’s most experienced players had reached their international endpoint. Manager Julen Lopetegui has mixed some great experienced veterans and young talent to form an exciting national team for this year’s tournament. Currently ranked sixth in the world, Spain still have an experienced defense with captain Sergio Ramos and Gerard Pique holding down the backline for at least one more World Cup. David De Gea is world-class and he will marshal the Spanish goal. Lopetegui’s attack and midfield is an exciting mix of young and old, and Spain’s potential is through the roof for this edition of the tournament.
