Club History

Senegal’s only previous appearance at the World Cup came in 2002. The team was inspired to the quarterfinals in South Korea and Japan. This time around, the team is coached by former player Aliou Cisse, who played on the 2002 team. Led by Liverpool’s Sadio Mane, Senegal’s squad is mostly made up of players signed to European clubs. Senegal has plenty of high-quality players that can get the team through the group, but it will need the likes of Keita Balde and M’Baye Niang to step up to the big stage of international football.
