The first game of the day was not the most interesting especially for the neutral fans. We saw the teams of Denmark and Australia which are among the squads that prefer playing on counter-attacks. For this reason, we did not see much class on offense rather than just dozen of crosses from both teams. The game finished 1-1 which probably is the fairest score in this game. The first half started perfectly for Denmark and the team scored by Christian Eriksen (7′) after a perfect volley shot.

After that Australia took the domination in the game and won a penalty at the end of the first period. The penalty was turned into a goal by the captain of the Australians Mile Jedinak (38’).

Since that goal, Australia was the more active team but the Australians just could not have found the way to win the three points. The game can be easily labeled as not interesting and played on the low level of football class not corresponding with the expected level of teams playing at the biggest tournament in the world. After this game, Denmark is with 4 points while Australia is with only 1 and both teams have a game left to play. Denmark will face France in its last game, while Australia will try to beat Peru.
