The first game of the battles in Group B faced the national football teams of Iran and Morocco. The game started really dynamic and especially during the first 25 minutes of the game Morocco was dominating. During this period the Africans could have opened the score, but they missed all of their chances. Surprisingly or not the first half finished as a draw (0-0) even though that both teams had some chances. The second half of the game was pretty much a copy of the first one. The slight dominance of Morocco continued, but the best chance in the game was for Iran.
After really boring last twenty minutes of the game, the added time for the game was 6 minutes. During those 6 minutes, the Iranian players continue to lose time in search of the draw. Unfortunately for Morocco and its fans in the last minute of the added time, Iran won a free kick in the middle of the Africans. After the cross, Aziz Bouhaddouz (own goal 90+6’) unintentionally scored in his own goal which gave the three points to the selection of Carlos Queiroz. The result from the game presumes that Iran might have a chance to fight for a top-two finish in the group. Still, those chances are just theoretical since the Asians did not prove that they are a team that can compete against nations like Portugal or Spain.
